Before It Started To Rain

Before It Started To Rain by Milton Lee Norris

I don’t mind shedding tears; it’s a natural thing to do.
It’s like laughter in a way; it’s spontaneous and enriching too.
So why should all the women have all the fun with tears;
They are not the only ones who need a simple wash.
We all can use a rinse or two,
That’s just a part of what tears do.

For as tears flow, they cleanse your spirit too.
It feels good to release this water,
Just the same as when you pee,
So don’t be afraid to let your water run.
For as you can hurt yourself if you don’t release,
The same is true when holding back those tears.

Don’t hold back that whimper or that rain,
Let the streams flow, so that your life can be enhanced.
Live, smile and know that when you cry, you’ll see a clearer day.
So let the men, and let the boys participate in this delight.
It’s nothing to be ashamed of; it’s as natural as light.

So let down your barriers that prevent you from seeing bright and feeling free.
Tears enhance the living as the rain enhances life.
As the buds begin to flower because of a simple rain,
Just think what could happen from a simple tear that falls.

As the tears fall toward the ground, it’s joy that leaps around.
Your whimper becomes part of a chorus of a new song being sung.
It chimes in with the sound as the morning sun awakes,
So be glad for these tears, they’re telling of your fate.
Rejoice, rejoice for these tears are teaching you.

They can teach you about strife and pain,
And though reluctant to shed those tears,
Once released the pain begins to subside.
So why endure when simple tears will do?

Many tears shed can release the hidden pain within,
And a simple burst of tears will let out all of your heartfelt pain.
So bleed those tears as if you’re giving blood,
They are meant to be shared both in joy and when in pain.
But in order to feel that joy, you must first release some tears.

Like the mountain falls that flow, let your thoughts inside explode.
Feel that spirit as you let your tears begin,
Feel the rupture of your troubled soul within.
Feel that freedom that has incarcerated you for all too long.
So spread the joy of giving by shedding those simple tears.
